“SEED, SCATTERED AND SOWN: Reaching Beyond this Generation” is the mission resourcing campaign of the Virlina District now through 2020. Its purpose is to underwrite specific mission projects of the district and camp. These include the children, youth and young adult work of the district; grants to smaller congregations for building improvements; efforts to call set-apart leadership for the ministry; assisting multi-cultural and ethnic new church development; an RV village, road improvements, and other projects at Camp Bethel.
As of February 3, 2020, there are 284 donors totaling $472,858. The Congregational Phase began in Fall 2017. Make your donation today!
Based upon the Parable of the Sower (Matthew 13: 3-9, 18-23) and with allusion to the well-known hymn, “Seed, scattered and sown” (Dan Feiten, Hymnal: A Worship Book, 1992, #454), the theme reflects the broadcasting of God’s grace and mercy to all persons. We seek to develop resources to fulfill Virlina District’s commitment to ministry with our children, youth and young adults; to initiate and continue our new church development and assistance to our smaller, struggling congregations; to encourage development of set-apart ministerial leadership and to provide necessary enhancements to fulfill Camp Bethel’s future potential.
Sunday, January 8, 2017 was designated as "SEED, SCATTERED AND SOWN SUNDAY" within the Virlina District. We hope every congregation within the district used or will use the Parable of the Sower as the theme for worship as an introduction to our campaign. Worship, Sermon and Bible Study resources for this Sunday are available HERE.
The Seed, Scattered and Sowncampaign and the Victory Goal of $750,000 was approved by the 2011 Virlina District Conference. Our Challenge Goal of $1,000,000 was approved by the 2014 Virlina District Board.
